Forestry is broadly defined as the science and practice of developing, managing or cultivating trees and forests for human benefit. Forestry is a growing industry of the Belarusian economy. For this reason, forestry graduates are currently in high demand in the labour market.
The professional training covers many forestry-related areas including forest formation and growing, environmental protection and forest ecosystem monitoring (control), forest certification, hunting farm activities, management of forest resources, forest inventory, GIS technologies, etc.

Forest Science and Silviculture
Professional training: forest formation and growing, procedures of final harvest and intermediate cuttings, environmental protection and forest ecosystem monitoring (control), forest certification, radioecology, forestry in the conditions of forest ecosystem extreme disturbances.
Students are taught to define principal species of grass, wood and undergrowth flora of republican and world forests and to learn their biological and ecological peculiarities. They are trained to carry out a geobotanic description of forest phytocenoses and a phonologic observation of plant growth and development, to establish regularities of forest relationship with ecological factors and regularities of forest plantation formation. They also obtain deep theoretical and practical training in carrying out procedures of final harvest and intermediate cuttings, and other forestry activities.

Professional training: forest plantation control (forest-pathologic monitoring); arrangement of measures on forest protection from pests and diseases; development of projects and normative reference documentation on forest protection.
Students acquire theoretical and practical skills of assessing forest plantation viability, methods of defining forest harmful species and organisms; they study modern techniques and means of forest protection and technologies of their application, as well as methods of field and laboratory investigations of harmful organisms.

Hunting Control and Accessory Forest Utilization
Professional training: arrangement and control over production activities in hunting industry, functions of national wildlife protection, hunting fauna monitoring and rational utilization of wildlife resources, utilization of hunting animals.
Students are taught to run hunting farm activities, to control quality and observance of normative requirements at carrying out hunting farm work, to develop measures on increasing hunting farm efficiency, to improve working conditions of the staff engaged in hunting farm activities.

Information Systems in Forestry
Professional training: management of forests and forest resources, forest inventory and mensuration, account of the forest stock, planning and design of forestry activities, information support for forestry management systems. Students are provided with theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for work in forestry: methods and techniques to handle geodesy equipment, creation and renewal of map-making data, statistic analysis of forest growth regularities, assessment of forest plantation mensuration parameters, account of forest stock and wood harvest production. Students master modern technologies of aerospace data processing, information management systems of forestry and forest resources, geoinformation technologies, normative reference documentation.

Afforestation and Nursery Economy
Professional training: molecular-genetic methods of woody plant investigation, forest seedage, cultivation of forest and ornamental planting stock in forest nurseries, forest regeneration and afforestation.
Students are provided with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of forest seedage, planting stock cultivation in nurseries, modern engineering technologies of development and cultivation of synthetic planting stock.
