BSTU Rankings

One of the indicators of the effectiveness of the functioning of university is its position in world ranking systems. 

Participation in international rankings is one of the directions of strategic development of the Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU), which allows to effectively integrate the university into the international educational environment, to coordinate educational and research processes  applying international rules and standards.

BSTU participates in the following ratings:
1. Webometrics;
2. 4icu (UniRank);
3. Ranking Web of Repositories.


The Ranking Web or Webometrics is the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions.

Since 2004 and every six months an independent, objective, free, open scientific exercise is performed by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC) for the providing reliable, multidimensional, updated and useful information about the performance of universities from all over the world based on their web presence and impact.

 PRESENCE   Size (number of webpages) of the main webdomain of the institution. It includes all the subdomains
  sharing the same (central or main) webdomain and all the file types including rich files like pdf documents

  Number of external networks (subnets) originating backlinks to the institution's webpages
  After normalization, the maximum value between the two sources is selected

  Number of citations from Top authors according to the source

As of July 2018, BSTU in the ranking of Webometrics occupies::

  • in the Republic of Belarus - 7th place;
  • in the world - 4584.

Website 4icu (Four International Colleges & Universities) — database, systematizing information on educational institutions 200 countries. 

47 universities of the Republic of Belarus take part in the rating formed by 4ICU. The resource when compiling the rating is guided by the citation index of scientific articles, published by the university in the international Internet space.


UniRank (4icu) is determined by the popularity and attendance of sites of 13,000 universities and colleges. 

This rating is published since May 2005. 


Since then, the rating methodology has been periodically refined in order to ensure better results.

The current uniRank University Ranking™ is based upon an algorithm including 5 unbiased and independent web metrics extracted from 4 different web intelligence sources: 

  1. Moz Domain Authority 
  2. Alexa Global Rank 
  3. SimilarWeb Global Rank.
  4. Majestic Referring Domains
  5. Majestic Trust Flow 

The Belarusian rating of UniRank included 47 institutions of higher education.


As of September 2018, BSTU is ranked in the UniRank (4icu) rating::

  • in the Republic of Belarus - 7th place;
  • in the world - 4620.

Ranking Web of Repositories

Ranking Web of Repositories — sub-rating of the international web rating of the world educational institutions Webometrics, which represents the rating of repositories (scientific electronic libraries - electronic archives of scientific and educational documents) of universities and scientific organizations.

The main purpose of the ranking of Webometrics Ranking of World Repositories is to stimulate the exchange of information between scientists from all over the world through the publication of research results on their websites.


For the first time, the repository rating was published in February 2013.


BSTU took part for the first time in the rating in July 2017, below is information on preliminary results.


Based on the beta version of the repository ranking for July 2017 BSTU repository occupies 16th place among 22 repositories of Belarusian universities and 1669 among world educational repositories.
