Centre of Excellence

BSTU is a scientific and research centre that successfully develops various scientific directions in the fields of forestry, wood processing, production of construction materials, chemistry and chemical technologies, economics, and printing industry. The University is accredited as a scientific organization in the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (certificate No. 52, 11.09.2011). Overall funding amounting in 2015 increased by 3.2 times in comparison with 2010 and within the framework of economic contracts by 5.6 times.

During 2011-2015 the scientists of the University worked on the 8 State science and technology programs where it served as the umbrella organization. Among the programs there were such as sector program “The introduction and landscaping”, 2 regional programs “Minsk Region development” and “Innovative Development of Brest Region”, 9 State programs of scientific research, the Union State program “Union State monitoring”, also such programs as  “Forests of Belarus – productivity, sustainability, effective use”, “Galvanic technologies and equipment”, “Mechanics, technical diagnostics, metallurgy”.

The scientists of the University implemented seven projects included in the State program of innovative development of the Republic of Belarus for 2011-2015. The projects aim to create new productions at existing enterprises and ongoing production upgrading.

At present time scientific and innovative activities of the University develops in accordance with the priority areas of scientific and technical activities in the Republic of Belarus the priority areas of research activities and the priority areas of scientific activities for 2016 – 2020.

University scientists carry out programs of different levels, including international and innovative projects, grants, projects of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research and economic contracts on requests of enterprises and organizations.

Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Architecture and Construction, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, “Belneftekhim” concern, “Bellesbumprom” concern, etc. are among the customers of scientific researches and studies of the University.

In 2016-2020 the scientists of the University work on the following state research programs: “Energy systems, processes and technologies”, “Chemical technologies and materials”, “Biotechnologies”, “Informatics, space and security”, “Photonics, optoelectronics and microelectronics”, “Mechanics, metallurgy, diagnostics in mechanical engineering”, “Material physics, new materials and technologies”, “Environmental management and ecology”, “Convergence – 2020”, “"Economics and humanitarian development of Belarusian society”.

Under the subprogram "Galvanic technologies and equipment", State scientific research program “Mechanics, metallurgy, diagnostics in mechanical industry”, and State science and technology program “Forests of Belarus - sustainable management, innovative development, resources” the University serves as the umbrella implementing entity.

Scientific researches are aimed at addressing important applied problems such as to enter the world level of scientific developments according to new composite materials, construction materials and products, chemical technologies and technology, forestry and wood processing, printing industry. The total number of enterprises and organizations with which BSTU cooperates within the framework of economic contracts is more than 100.
