In 2009 the QMS (Quality Management System) was developed in BSTU. It is the first QMS among the Belarusian institutions of higher education which was certified in the National System for Conformity Attestation of the Republic of Belarus and in the German system of accreditation. The QMS met the requirements of National Standards of Belarus ISO 9001-2009 and the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001:2008, respectively. It covered such basic processes as the realization of educational activity (which includes the training of specialists, masters, highly qualified researchers, retraining and advanced training of managers and specialists, pre-university training), as well as research and innovative activities.
In 2010 BSTU took part in the contest for the Government Award of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality. According to the results of the contest BSTU was conferred the Government Award of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality (The resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated February 28, 2011 No. 248) for introducing highly effective methods of quality management and providing competitive products (service delivery) on this basis.
In 2015 the second certification audit of the BSTU Quality Management System occurred. According to its results the validity of the certificates confirming the QMS compliance with the requirements of National Standards of Belarus ISO 9001-2009 in the National System for Conformity Attestation of the Republic of Belarus and the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 in the German accreditation system were extended: in the National System for Conformity Attestation of the Republic of Belarus until December 27, 2018, in the German accreditation system until September 14, 2018).
The formation of a successful Quality Management System is a complicated and continuous process which doesn’t come to an end with the direct implementation and QMS certification for compliance with the international standard requirements. The continuous QMS development has started from that moment in order to search for more effective methods and tools of quality management in educational institutions. The regular improvement of all activities and QMS development in particular is a permanent purpose of any organization, including educational institutions that seek for economic autonomy and stability by achieving a competitive advantage and expanding its export potential.
